Katie Slattery
Katie was raised in Gainesville, Florida and began her dance education with the Gainesville Ballet Theatre, before attending and graduating from Virginia School of the Arts. Katie attended summer intensive programs at the Rock School of the Pennsylvania Ballet, American Ballet Theatre in New York City, Joffrey Ballet School and Kaatsbaan International Dance Center. Katie became a trainee at Joffrey and a dancer wtih the Joffrey II Concert Dancers. In 1999, she became a trainee with the Milwaukee Ballet and a dancer with Milwaukee Ballet II. In 2001, Katie joined the Orlando Ballet under the directorship of Fernando Bujones. She was honored to be cast as Clara in Bujones' "The Nutcracker," which she performed for several seasons. In 2002, Katie joined the faculty of the Orlando Ballet School under Peter Stark.
After six seasons in Orlando, Katie joined the Sarasota Ballet for two seasons and became an instructor with the Sarasota Ballet School. Katie has performed in Swan Lake, Spartacus, La Fille Mal Gardee, Coppelia, Don Quixote, Cinderella, Giselle, Les Sylphides, Raymonda Act III, Paquita, A Midsummer Night's Dream, as well as in ballets choreographed by George Balanchine, Kenneth MacMillan, Frederick Ashton and Fernando Bujones. Katie has guest taught for several ballet academies, including Spartanburg Ballet and Brandon Ballet. Katie is excited to be re-joining the Orlando Ballet School faculty this season.
